SJA Jeju 2018-19 Season 3 Athletic Recap

Our Spring season sees HS boys and girls soccer teams venture outside, MS boys and girls basketball start practicing and our HS badminton team come together.

Some highlights of the season:

HeeJu Cho and SungEun Moon won the girls and boys KISAC golf championships respectively, with SungEun shooting an impressive 77 gross on a challenging Raon course.

We entered two MS girls basketball teams into the KISAC tournament for the first time, the girls worked hard and really came together as a team, faring well in the B division. Our MS boys B team hosted the KISAC event at SJA Jeju and finished 3rd while the A team flew to Busan and walked away with the Bronze medal in what was a fiercely contested final day.

In a year of firsts, it was our HS badminton team that took part in the tournament this year. In a 5-person team event, we made it to the semifinals before losing to eventual winners NLCS.

The marquee sport for the season was HS boys and girls soccer. Both A teams traveled to Busan early in May for the much-anticipated 7-a side championships. The girls had a shaky first day but found their rhythm on day 2, beating BIS and drawing against KIS, finishing in 5th place. The boys hit the ground running and a great first day saw them qualify for the semi-finals on day 2. They were leading 2 nil but slipped up, losing in injury time 3-2, to eventual winners Fayston Prep from Seoul.

It has been a fantastic year for sports at SJA Jeju, with our school steadily growing we are very excited for what next year will bring. GO HILLTOPPERS!!!
