Elementary School Principal Message

DavidGriffith

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our Elementary School community, where we are committed to fostering a stimulating environment for all our students. The Elementary School carefully interweaves the foundations of character, inquiry, and community into all that we do. We pride ourselves on supporting the “whole-child” by establishing strong academic, social-emotional, and language foundations for students as they engage in their learning journeys.

For our youngest learners in Early Childhood, we are proud to offer a curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of creating a rich, engaging, and thoughtful learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and collaboration. Our educators work closely with each child, providing challenging provocations and opportunities for them to express themselves, think critically, and develop a deep love of learning.

As our students progress to grades 1-5, we utilize a rigorous inquiry-based learning model. This approach challenges students to ask questions, conduct research, and engage in complex problem-solving tasks. It is designed to cultivate independent thinkers who are well-prepared for the academic challenges ahead. Our dedicated teachers guide students through a structured yet dynamic curriculum, ensuring they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to excel. Students apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios, fostering resilience and adaptability. This model ensures that students are not just passive recipients of information but are actively engaged in their learning.

To ensure our students are meeting essential academic milestones, we adhere to comprehensive standards and benchmarks. These benchmarks provide clear goals for student learning at each grade level, allowing us to monitor progress and offer targeted support where needed. By maintaining high academic expectations, we help each child reach their full potential.

Recognizing the importance of language skills in our diverse community, we offer a robust English acquisition program utilizing the Immersion Model. English is both the language of instruction and inclusion at our school. Our program supports non-native speakers in developing strong English proficiency in our language-rich classrooms, enabling them to fully participate in all aspects of school life and succeed academically.

Beyond academics, we place a strong emphasis on character education. Our program is designed to instill values such as caring, collaboration, risk-taking, confidence, grit, and reflection. We believe that fostering good character is just as important as academic achievement and that our students should grow into not only knowledgeable but also kind and ethical individuals.

Our school is more than just a place of learning— it is a community where students, parents, and faculty come together to create a strong, supportive, and joyful environment. We celebrate diversity, encourage collaboration, and strive to ensure that every member of our community feels valued and happy.

Thank you for being a part of our vibrant school family. We look forward to a year of growth, discovery, and success for all our students.

Sincerely,

David Griffith
