Director of Teaching and Learning Message
Welcome to St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju!
St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju was founded in 2017 and draws upon the 178 year tradition of our home school in Vermont. Our academic program is built on three promises; We will do our best to help each student become the best learner possible, the best person possible, and be a part of something bigger than ourselves. The values of Character, Inquiry, and Community guide our educational program and permeate everything we do. We deeply believe in the potential of the young people we educate and are committed to preparing them to be compassionate and responsible leaders and global citizens.
Our innovative learning paradigm places high value on inquiry and project-based learning. We believe that deep and authentic learning experiences best allow students to develop strong expertise. Inspired by our home school’s Capstone Project, SJA Jeju students progress through a series of four Capstone Projects or “expertise markers”. This unified network of projects takes place at the conclusion of each level of our program (Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, and High School) and represents the culmination of learning within each of those levels. This learning paradigm encourages students to explore and question their world and to devise solutions that are researched-based, locally and globally relevant, and personally meaningful.
We want to congratulate our first graduating class of 2020, who were accepted into 26 of the top 100 universities in the United States and 70+ universities from around the world!
I encourage you to explore our website and get to know our academic program further. Please do not hesitate to contact us or visit our beautiful campus to see and experience all that St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju has to offer!
